I didn't hear about the "mom" incident. I guess that's the thing with Twitter/social media...tweets can be totally taken in or out of context depending on how well someone knows you and your character. I have heard crazy stories about moms who blog/Twitter ...so, honestly this doesn't surprise me. It's a good reminder and lesson for all. As for David Armano, he did an amazing thing...will be be able to do it twice? I doubt it.

Re: I am the Mob

I heard a radio report that the LA Fire Dept has a media guru who sits at a huge console and monitors web traffic for ... fire and safety stuff. He sited an example of how the FD was fighting a fire, then his twitter monitoring robot alerted him to a twitter stream in which "fire" was popping up a lot. He scanned it, realized it was regarding a building BEHIND the one on fire, and phoned up one of the twittering people. He got some valuable info and relayed it to the incident commander. Wow.

Re: I am the Mob

I'm spending the next week with guest posters exploring that very thing. My idiocy will hopefully spur some useful discussion if nothing else. :)
